It’s time for the City to remove size limitations on Community (Urban) Gardens

Isn’t it time we allow Tulsa Community Gardens to be in excess of one acre?  Currently, Community Gardens are limited to an area of less than one acre.  With pockets of food insecurity all across the City, shouldn’t we open up the opportunity to grow local high quality fresh produce?  There is a national trend

The current definition reads as follows:

35.090-B  Community Garden
An area less than one acre in area that is managed and maintained by  a group of individuals to grow and harvest food crops or non-food crops (e.g., flowers). A community garden area may be divided into separate garden plots or orchard areas for cultivation by one or more individuals or may be farmed collectively by members of the group. Community gardens may be principal or accessory uses.
